| Intro | Do the experiment yourself! | The exhibition | Archaeology is not a dull science! | Information | Partners | ||
Scientific results are demonstrated in a way that is so fascinating that this exhibition is simply a must for anyone even remotely interested in archaeology: you will be surprised at some of the knowledge people already had in bygone days! In the course of time many such skills and techniques have been lost. Using experimental archaeology we try to retrieve this forgotten knowledge. That is: we discover how something was not done, and how it may well have been done. We often find that there are several possible solutions to a problem – as is demonstrated by the two possible reconstructions of the stone drill. Both types make a nice hole in a stone hammer. The problem remains which of the types was actually used at the time? Undoubtedly further archaeological research will reveal more about the past. But we are not likely to ever find out all about it! Some secrets will continue to be ... a challenge.
This exhibition is also highly
suitable for families with children! |
